Set on gentle slopes the perfectly situated site on the corner of the Illawarra Highway and
Oldbury Road Sutton Forest features two individual vineyards, a 16 hectare home winery
block and a 28 hectare reserve block. Each vineyard site has been planted with varieties
that suit the individual vineyard's own terrior. The company also sources grapes grown on
other carefully selected premium vineyards in the Southern Highlands.
The unique and varied climatic conditions in the Southern Highlands has a significant
influence on the viticultural and winemaking practices of the region, which combined
produces cool climate wines of delicate and outstanding taste and flavour.
The Southern Highlands is a true cool climate region with harvesting taking place during
the period mid-April and mid-May each season. The altitude in the region ranges from
550 to 850 metres above sea level. The soils are diverse, the days are warm and the nights
cool, all combine to produce a unique microclimate perfect for producing premium wine
grapes, accentuating grape flavours along with retentation of their natural acidity. The
result is the production of cool climate table wines of distinct and oustanding quality,
benchmarks of this young and emerging region.
